Demon’s Souls, the PS3-exclusive action RPG from From Software, is set for release on October 6th in the US. The standard edition will set you back $59.99, but for ten dollars more you can get the deluxe edition, which comes bundled with a 150+ page strategy guide and a ‘collectible outer slipcase’. The guide won’t be sold separately, and frankly we were looking to add to our collection of outer slipcases, so this bundle sounds pretty good.
As an incentive to pre-order the game, some retailers will also be offering a free bonus art book containing ‘designs and concept sketches from the world of Demon’s Souls. Possibly one for the coffee table when the parents come round to visit. Pre-orders for the deluxe edition will begin Wednesday, July 8th.

It is a GREAT game (just imported it for less than $60!) but I am a little disappointed in Atlus here. Sure, I’ll probably get it for the 150 pg Strat Guide and art book but I still feel like I am being jipped. No soundtrack or anything special? That guide better be good.
Also, the slipcase and and new cover is kind of misleading. The new cover is just the instructional manual with blue on it and the slipcase is the original box art. Not to mention Atlus releases a “new” trailer…one that has been on the internet since January 1st of this year.
Just seems off coming from Atlus.
