George Lucas is involved in everything Star Wars, however what usually is in question the majority of the time is his level of involvement and it’s no different in the case of Star Wars: The Old Republic. When asked by G4 if Lucas has seen The Old Republic in some type of in-game form, Ray Muzyka said “I haven’t shown it to him [Lucas] personally, no, but I know he keeps his finger on the pulse of everything that LucasArts is working on, so I know he’s involved in it. I’ve talked to him about the project in the past and I know he’s excited about it.” As for the E3 video that rocked everyone’s faces off, we’re not sure if Lucas saw that either, “I can’t say what he thought of the trailer because I don’t know for sure that he’s seen it,” Muzyka added, “but I imagine he has because he’s very involved in the development side of things.”
Having the creator of a franchise involved in an MMO related to that franchise is great and everything but what about the people who will actually make that MMO a reality? It only makes sense that a merge between BioWare and Mythic would lead to some type of collaborative effort to improve their respective MMOs.
“Ray and I both played Warhammer, and actually I’ve still been playing it on and off for a while, so I think for us it’s not to much a popularity boost as just the fact that we can probably bring perspectives to the table that will be new and perhaps helpful to the guys from Mythic in the same way from an online perspective they can certainly share with us.” Greg Zeschuk told Eurogamer. “To give credit to the Austin team, we have a number of serious MMO veterans on there, so it’s certainly not neophytes, but there’s absolutely opportunities to share and learn things back and forth.” Thus it seems much cooperation will take place between the newly merged studios. Regardless, we’ll have to wait to see how this will affect The Old Republic or at the very least, improve Warhammer Online.
