Welcome to comic book legend Bob Kane’s wet dream - all of the masked manhunter’s most dangerous, deadliest and needless to say craziest adversaries remanded to Arkham Asylum’s care at the same time, freed from their restraints and their sanity and looking for revenge on the tights-clad crusader.

This latest trailer for Batman: Arkham Asylum is a virtual who’s who of villainy, with the Joker, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Bane, Killer Croc, and Mr. Zsasz all taking their turn at the Batman beatdown. There are a nefarious faces notably absent of course, like Two Face, Mr. Freeze, Sandman, Clayface and Scarecrow (though I can’t say I mind not having to constantly refer to the caped crusader as “The Bat Man!”), but keep in mind there’s still a possibility for previously unamed characters to make an appearance in the game’s challenge maps, most likely as pre-order bonuses.

Although I won’t know for sure if this is the definitive take Batman universe until I’ve actually played the damn thing, I do know that the month and a half wait might just make me batty. Just as long as the “exhaustion facility” comes equipped with an HDTV, we should be good.
