Scribblenauts artist honors classic Capcom fighting game

This is the pixelated passion project of sprite artist extraordinaire Paul Robertson, of Scribblenauts and Drawn to Life fame, for Udon Entertainment’s upcoming Darkstalkers Tribute.

The massive coffee table tribute to the classic Capcom fighting game, in commemoration its 15th anniversary, will feature almost 300 pages of original illustrations from some of the most talented anime, manga and comic book artists in the industry, including Trigun‘s Yasuhiro Nightow, Chrono Crusade‘s Daisuke Moriyama, Venus Versus Virus’ Atsushi Suzumi, The Spectacular Spider Man’s Sean Galloway, Dark Reign: Young Avengers‘ Mark Brooks, Wonder Woman‘s cover artist Adam Hughes and Runaways’ cover artist Jo Chen. I think they’ve even got a Joe Ledbetter in there, too.

The limited edition hardcover is currently available for pre-order, shipping out at the end of August. I was never much of a Darkstalkers fan, as I was still in the angst-ridden poetry phase when this arcade brawler reached its zenith, but there’s no denying this is a gorgeous book regardless of your familiarity with the game. Poetry meets pixels.
