Leave it to good ol’ Bill Gates to be the champion of the PC platform, even from his removed position of chairman, where he sees a future with Natal on the PC. Well, championing the platform might be a stretch, but he definitely sees potential for Natal to be used for functions outside of home gaming. He mentioned how its designed as a multimedia tool and could be used for other purposes as well “…even if they connect it up to Windows PCs for interacting in terms of meetings, and collaboration, and communication,” Gates explains.
He also described an interesting scenario where you could use Natal as a means of user input to control your media through gestures etc. Minority Report anyone? “Both the Xbox guys and the Windows guys latched onto that and now ever since they latched onto it the idea of how it can be used in the office is getting much more concrete, and is pretty exciting,” describes Gates. How this all will work in the end will be seen, but it certainly appears that Natal has a bigger life than simply being the new gimmick to get more 360s off the shelves.
