Gamer population gains 30 million since 2007

According to Tom Prata, senior director of product development for Nintendo of America, there has been a significant increase in videogame consumers over the past two-and-a-half years. Since 2007, 30 million new gamers in North America have picked up our favorite hobby, bringing the total user base to almost 144 million.

Prata, speaking at the Casual Connect conference in Seattle, also pinned down the active worldwide console and handheld gamers at 295 million. He speculates that “if the right game came along,” that number could climb another 150 million.

That is a bunch of gamers who should read our articles. Go forth and spread the word.
