The open beta is Aug 17. We will not waste any time announcing that important information. Now, the question is how are eager/curious players going to get into the Champions Online open beta on day one? You have a few choices: Preorder from GameStop, Wal-Mart, Best Buy or Amazon. Regardless, preordering will have to be done to be guaranteed entry into the beta.
If you’re still interested, GameStop is offering early access to the game before its launch on Sept 1, alongside some exclusive items. Wal-Mart buyers can get the Limited Edition Package with a cover that includes an exclusive zone map, iron-on decal and ten Cryptic Points. If you’re a Best Buy type of person then you can also get early access as well as some other exclusive in-game items like an action figure. Amazon pre-orders will get you five Cryptic Points and three exclusive in-game items. If none of this preorder business is for you, then going the normal route and just purchasing it on release is always safe too.
GameStop is offering access to the Early Start Program, giving customers who preorder a few days headstart in the game before its official launch on September 1st! In addition, all preorders include the exclusive Insectoid Airfoil costume piece and the Experimental Anti-Graviton Generator flight travel power at character creation.
Wal-Mart offers a Limited Edition Package with collectible lenticular cover, which also includes a zone map, iron-on decal, and ten additional Cryptic Points.
Best Buy offers access to the Early Start Program, along with an exclusive action figure in-game and a damage resistance item.
Amazon preorders receive five additional Cryptic Points, and three exclusive costume pieces: Harlequin Headpiece, Black Knight Helmet, and Grenade Chest Strap.
