Bungie has told Eurogamer that its new non-Halo game has not been taken up by a publisher yet, but suggested a deal is “close”.
Since becoming independent from Microsoft in 2007, the studio is still wrapped up in all things Halo, including Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and the recently announced Halo: Reach.
There is current no information about the new project, though the studio has definitely been working on it.
In regards to getting a publishing partner for the new IP, Bungie’s Lars Bakken said, “I think internally we’ll know sometime soon. I don’t handle these things, but I’d imagine we’re going to know way before we make the public announcement of who’s handling that! But sure, I think those talks are, I guess, close.”
Close is good. Close is great. But until we find out anything definite, close is as close as we’re gonna get.
