Ubisoft sales down 51%, market conditions at fault
BY Rain Anderson Jul. 27th, 2009 More on:

According to a 2009-10 sales report sent out today, the first-quarter sales of Ubisoft titles were down a whopping 51%.

Ubisoft cites poorer-than-anticipated market conditions, a slowdown in sales of DS games in both Europe and the United States, and “significantly lower” back-catalog sales for PS3 and Xbox 360 as contributing factors.

On a brighter side, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and Anno, two of the company’s recent releases, were “in line with expectations.”

The company also saw “significant market share gains on the Wii since the start of the calendar year (7.2% market share in Europe versus 4.6% one year earlier, and 4.5% in the United States
compared with 2.7%)”
