PlayStation rewards program in the works?
BY Joseph DeLia Aug. 5th, 2009 More on:

According to a recent trademark filed by SCEA, Sony might be thinking about giving something back to the most dedicated PlayStation fans. The program is called “P.S. Thanks,” and is described as an “incentive rewards program geared towards quantifying, identifying and motivating top consumer base with the goal of promotion and sale of video game hardware and software.” In other words: hardcore PlayStation fans might have the chance to earn some shweet shwag!

Nintendo has a rewards program in place called Club Nintendo, which has fans registering games that they own in exchange for points. These points can be used to buy Mario hats, Wii remote holders, and even exclusive games, which is yet another reason for fans of the big N to sing their praises. Since Sony has been hit with some rough press lately, a move like this would be a great way to pep up their public image and rejuvenate the fanbase.

No details have been released about how the “P.S. Thanks” program would work, what prizes would be up for grabs, or if this will ever actually exist, though visions of Helghast helmets, replica chain blades, and Daxter alarm clocks will be dancing in this gamer’s mind until Sony talks.
