A handful of new screenshots from id Software’s Rage have found their way to the masses. Originating from a SIGGRAPH 2009 talk given by id Software senior programmer J.M.P. van Waveren, these environment shots show off the virtual texturing process which allow developers to create “unique, very large” textures with the id Tech 5 engine.

looks very pretty. i’m not in shock like when i saw doom3 at the apple thing, but man, this does look awesome :D i do wonder if that sky is animated, now that would be mind blowing. too bad i would only see it at 30fps ;) [i have a ps3. hehe? ]

There’s some light rays in one of the pics, sure looks like it will be animated, otherwise something like that would look weird imo.
