Woody Allen once said, “The heart wants what it wants.” Nothing could be truer for videogame fans, whose hearts apparently still beat for classic PlayStation 2 games. Konami has recently confirmed to Eurogamer that the publisher will indeed be re-issuing a number of classic PS2 titles. The venerable classics include Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, Metal Gear Solid 2: Subsistence, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Silent Hills 2, 3, and 4.
The re-issues will retail for between £10 and £20 in Europe. For those of you not working the foreign exchange desk at Goldman Sachs, that’s about a $15-$35 price range. Considering that this announcement comes well into the current console cycle, it’s refreshing to see that classic games remain timeless and relevant, regardless for which platform they were released. Release dates and regional availability have yet to be announced.
