Okay, it’s safe to say that Dragon Quest IX was a huge success when it came out in Japan last month. It sold over 2 million copies in its first week, shipped over 3.5 million in total, and helped boost weekly sales of the already-dominant DS. So we think it should be a no brainer to bring the game to North American and European audiences, despite some noncommittal language that Square Enix has been throwing out recently. Latest word is that there’s no “definitive decision” yet on whether non-Japanese gamers will get their hands on DQIX. We’re still cautiously optimistic that Square will come to their senses and release the game overseas, but the operative word here is cautiously.
