Interplay and Gameloft have announced they are partnering up to release Earthworm Jim on XBLA, PSN and WiiWare. XBLA will have a timed one-month exclusive on the game and the Interplay/Gameloft agreement also includes mobile phone titles in the future. It isn’t clear whether or not the Earthworm Jim title will be a simple port or a completely new game, but the fact that it’s headed for WiiWare and Gameloft’s involvement hints at the possibility that this title will be all-new. “We are delighted to partner with Interplay to bring Earthworm Jim to multiple downloadable platforms,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president, Gameloft. “The game, with its humorous and edgy style, is a great fit for today’s gamer who craves a fully immersive experience that is fun and easily accessible. We look forward to delivering a fantastic game.”
This announcement doesn’t seem to be related to the Sega 20th Anniversary Vote for XBLA as Sega isn’t involved here. Gameloft’s Earthworm Jim (ported or otherwise) will be available at the end of 2009.
