No plans for a Modern Warfare 2 beta
BY Vidal Stewart Aug. 22nd, 2009 More on:

A few months prior to Call of Duty 4’s release, a multiplayer beta went live for the game allowing many people to get their hands on Modern Warfare, leading some speculate that Modern Warfare 2 would get the same treatment. It even lead Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling to come out and tell everyone that multiplayer betas aren’t on the minds of Infinity Ward this time and by this time, he means right now, like right now because that could change, but you shouldn’t expect that.

“It is true that we have not announced a Public Beta for MW2, and that remains true unless I announce otherwise,” Bowling wrote. “However, while no Public Beta is currently announced we do plan on running an extensive Closed Beta among Infinity Ward, Activision, and possibly 1st party partners worldwide.”

An Activision representative gave a more definitive answer to CVG by simply saying that there will be no multiplayer beta. Call of Duty 4’s beta is what some would call one of biggest factors for its success but Infinity Ward and Activision appear very confident in its ability to get the point across when players walk into stores on Nov. 10.
