Modern Warfare 2 just seems to have everything but the kitchen sink. A promising action-packed single-player campaign, a robust multiplayer component that expands on the first game’s addictive online multiplayer and a set of night vision goggles for the recession-immune gamer. But now Infinity Ward is intent on throwing in that kitchen sink with the ability to dual wield sidearms.
Community manager Robert Bowling showed off the new ability at a demonstration at a GameCrazy event and went into further detail in a message board post. The new ability is called “Akimbo,” which allows players to dual wield sidearms (and sidearms only). Bowling assures everyone that the skill has been balanced, allaying fears of an overpowered ability. “It’s limited to sidearms, harder to aim than standard and you can’t go ADS (aim down sights) since you have a weapon in each hand; Among other balancing techniques, so don’t freak out before you see it in action.”
Gamers will be able to pull off their best Chow Yun Fat impersonation on Nov. 10 when John Woo presents Modern Warfare 2 comes out.
