PS3 update just in the nick of time
BY Rain Anderson Sep. 1st, 2009 More on:

Just in time for the arrival of the PS3 Slim, the 3.00 firmware update that Sony announced at GamesCom has gone live, bringing with it a number of changes and additions. After the update, the first notable changes are a new boot screen that reflects the PS3’s new branding, a slightly redesigned XMB (it sparkles!) and Friends List, along with a status indicator bar in the upper right corner. The “Information Board” has also been replaced with “What’s New,” which is now the first thing that’s displayed when the system is turned on.

The exact details of the update were detailed previously. A video tour is available here.

The PS3’s first dynamic theme, LittleBigPlanet’s “Sackboy On The Run” (pictured), is also out on the PS Store for $2.99.
