Alright, Trekkies - it’s time to start getting ready for your dreams to come true. That’s right, getting to be captain of your own starship in the beloved sci-fi universe of Gene Roddenberry.

Atari and Cryptic Games have announced that you can now sign up for the closed beta of the upcoming Star Trek Online on their website. Aside from being the first Star Trek MMORPG, this will be the first MMORPG to have both ground combat as well as space battle. The idea is that players will take command of a starship, but gameplay will also include away missions on foot. Just don’t wear a red shirt.

“We are looking toward the launch of our first-of-a-kind MMORPG with anticipation and excitement and we expect Star Trek Online to explode onto the scene,” said Craig Zinkievich, Executive Producer, ”giving fans and gamers a Star Trek experience like no other.”
