In a discussion on BioWare’s official forums, one of the writers at the company, Patrick Weekes, has all but announced a sequel to the just-around-the-corner Dragon Age: Origins.
In response to a discussion starter who wondered what the writers at the company are doing at the stage in a game’s development when the story elements are seemingly finalized, Weekes said, “Many writers are on different projects now, like Dragon Age 2 or the MMO.” The MMO is probably Star Wars:The Old Republic, but “Dragon Age 2” couldn’t be clearer. “We did kinda call the first one “Origins“,” he later added.
Some writers have also moved on to downloadable content according to Weekes, although “that is all [he] can say about that.”

I hope they’ll be upgrading the visuals considerably for the second one, the first seems kind of dated compared to Mass Effect 2, or even Oblivion at times.

Well, didn’t they already say really early on they were gonna make this another trilogy, at least? Well, this ought to work as confirmation, I guess.

I really don’t think Oblivion’s cardboard cutout faces compared to Dragon Age’s character textures, and the character design gave me about as much reign over what my character looked like as Oblivion gave me.
And besides, if you did everything you could and played the game on the hardest setting, Dragon Age is a very long game. I’m definately willing to sacrifice graphics for content.
And to answer Syron, yeah, I’m sure they will try to maintain the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series for the more casual players, as well as develop their MMO for the more hardcore players, so I’m sure we will see more of Dragon Age. At least I hope so, I had a lot of fun playing it and that’s really rare for me.
