At a Japanese press event, Square Enix has now officially confirmed what their ad campaign revealed a day earlierFinal Fantasy XIII will be released in Japan on December 17. The game will come with a ¥8800 (¥9240 with tax) price tag, which translates into USD$95 (USD$100 with tax) — apparently business as usual for Square’s games in Japan.

President and CEO Yoichi Wada also spoke of the international release, confirming once more that the company is still aiming for a Spring 2010 release outside Japan, “In the past, it’s taken a year or half a year to release our games abroad, but this time we are aiming for an international release this Spring.”

More details on the international release are “upcoming.”
