A Wii drop in price for Nintendo’s console?
BY Chris Barraclough Sep. 12th, 2009 More on:

Nintendo is rumored to be following Microsoft and Sony for a change, by announcing a drop in price for the Wii. The cut might be coming at the beginning of October, possibly to be announced at the Kyoto Cross Media Experience 2009, which opens on Sep 26 and finishes Oct 4.

The little white console with black peripherals has been the same price ($249/£179) since it first sucked our dignity and broke copious TV sets almost three years ago. However, despite consistently high sales over most of the Wii’s lifespan, the Xbox 360 and PS3 are finally catching up after recent price-drops of their own.

If the rumors are true, Nintendo’s console should enjoy a very merry Christmas indeed - especially with the upcoming release of Wii Fit Plus, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and of course, Peppa The Pig.
