Oh disappointment, you rear your ugly head once again to ruin my downloading hopes this Monday. Nothing but disappointing looking games coming to us through Nintendo’s download services this week. The press release started with DSiWare so why don’t we do that since there’s nothing to really get excited about. Art Academy: First Semester (Nintendo, Players: 1, E, 800 Nintendo DSi Points) is a “portable art course.” I guess it teaches you how to paint. It’s accompanied by Oscar in Toyland (Virtual Playground, Players: 1, E – Comic Mischief, 800 Nintendo DSi Points), which looks like a super easy platformer.
WiiWare does get three games this week, which is a big rarity, but they don’t seem so hot. Texas Hold’Em Poker, (Gameloft, Players: 1-6, T – Simulated Gambling, 600 Wii Points) is exactly what it sounds like while Mart Racer (JoJu Games, Players: 1-4, E – Alcohol Reference, Comic Mischief, 800 Wii Points) sounds like a game that would be better suited for one of those old Tiger Electronic games. Spaceball: Revolution (Virtual Toys, Players: 1-2, E – Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points) is the only game that actually looks remotely interesting with some puzzle elements, but not worth 800 points interesting.
Finally the VC delivers on its promise to bring a classic game to us with Crash ‘N The Boys Street Challenge (NES, Aksys Games, Players: 1-2, E – Cartoon Violence, 500 Wii Points). I’ve never played it, but I hear mediocre things. Here’s to next week then.
