As we tried to tell everyone earlier this week, the Wii is going to have a price drop. Maybe. I don’t know, no one does. We do have what my Aunt Lisa calls the “weeklies” from first Walmart and now Toys R Us both claiming the Wii will drop $50 to a reasonable $199. A blurry image of an alleged ad is kinda sketchy but two is basically confirmation, right?

Nintendo’s competition, the PS3 Slim and Xbox 360 Elite have both hit the sweet spot with consoles at $299, well within striking range of the previously dirt-cheap-by-comparison Wii. Regardless of the driving force behind the drop, if true this would be a Nintendo fan’s dream come true. Now if only we could get a good Wii Zelda too.
