Pre-order bonuses are usually annoying things, especially if content is given regionally or store-specific deals are in play. But at least in the case of GameStop’s Assassin’s Creed II pre-order, the “exclusive” maps that come with it aren’t all that exclusive after all.
According to Patrice Desilets, the game’s creative director, there is no such thing as eternally exclusive Assassin’s Creed II content. “Eventually everyone will have the entire game. I made sure of that,” Desilets told Kotaku. “Because I’m Canadian, I don’t have the same shops as you do. So I wanted to make sure I could at least someday play everything in the game. Eventually there’s going to be, okay, let’s unlock everything.”
When that switch gets flipped and whether the unlocking will come with a price tag wasn’t specified.
