Turbine working on console MMO
BY Emmanuel Petti Sep. 18th, 2009 More on:

Straight out of GDC Austin 2009, Turbine, the makers of The Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online, have let the cat out of the bag that they have an MMO for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the works. The news came from Turbine’s VP of development, Craig Alexander, during his keynote presentation. The unknown game has been in development for over a year and half and is set to release in 2011.

There was mention that they would be looking into development for the Wii later on and that Alexander expects that console MMOs will eventually surpass their current home on the PC. If you’re hoping that the new title is The Lord of the Rings Online for the consoles then we’re sorry to have to burst your bubble as Alexander noted that “under no circumstances should you attempt to port a title.” Sorry guys, but it looks LotRO will remain on PC. Bummer.
