Valve surprised, saddened by Left 4 Dead 2 ban
BY Rain Anderson Sep. 18th, 2009 More on:

Valve is a little bummed out over the little annoyance that Left 4 Dead 2 won’t be released in Australia. “We were surprised to hear of this news yesterday,” Valve’s VP of marketing Doug Lombardi has told Shacknews. “Obviously, everyone at Valve is pretty bummed.”

Lombardi adds that “it would be a shame if folks in Australia, or anywhere else, are unable to purchase Left 4 Dead 2 because of a ratings issue.”

Yet that appears to be the case; In case you missed it, Left 4 Dead 2 was denied classification down under by the Australian Classifications Board — effectively stopping it from being released — for portraying “living humans with a rabies-like virus” and for its “realistic, frenetic and unrelenting violence.”

Does that count Steam purchases? Or just retail?
