The Street Fighter series has been a long time favorite of gamers around the world for decades. So it wasn’t really that surprising that a new, improved game would appear on current HD hardware after years of absence. The inevitable outcome was obvious — millions in sales.

Due to this, we’re now hearing about a sequel to Street Fighter IV coming at us. According to the Japanese official Street Fighter blog, an announcement will be done shortly, hinting at a possible let-out during TGS 09 in just a few days. Will it be Street Fighter V? Maybe, but we doubt it. If we’re to speculate and judge by how Capcom has treated the franchise in the past, we’ll probably be looking at a few games in between IV and V.

But, it’s nothing more than a rumor at the moment, and as always, it should be treated as such.
