Final Fantasy project lives on after GRIN’s death
BY Jason Son Sep. 21st, 2009 More on:

Back in August when Swedish developer GRIN was forced to shut down operations, we found out the studio had been in the early stages of production on an unannounced Final Fantasy game for Square Enix codenamed Fortress. In addition to mourning the loss of yet another game development studio, we were left wondering about the canceled project and what could have been. But according to GamesIndustry.biz, the game may not be dead after all. Square Enix has reportedly maintained development on Fortress after it decided that GRIN’s work on the title had not been up to par. And we can all guess what happened to the Swedish studio after that. There’s no word if Square will end up handing the project off to another firm, but after the mess with GRIN, we don’t think they’ll be taking any chances.
