Maxime Béland: “Feel like a panther, not like a grandmother”

PAX 09 is over, but that doesn’t stop us from hearing, seeing and experiencing the remnants of the event, amongst of which is this developer diary with Maxime Béland, creative director of Splinter Cell: Conviction. He talks about the show, the conference, the panel, intertwined with game footage, which for the record Ubisoft, we’ve already seen, apart from that stickycam moment which was kind of fresh and… explosive. Kudos on that one.

Béland also talks about how Conviction is going to be more personal, more about Sam and his retaliation to save his daughter with the help of stealthy, panther-esque moves and trusting gadgets, such as the stickycam which we can throw near our enemy and have a look at their surroundings just before we push the button and blow them sky-high. Béland adds that they “want to do less,” – gadgets that is – “but that are better designed and more useful for players, right?” Right!

Splinter Cell: Conviction is scheduled for a Q1 2010 release on Xbox 360.
