Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft’s director of product management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, believes the recent price cuts both their own and Sony’s hardware received won’t have a long-lasting effect on sales. “I don’t believe the price cuts that both companies have made will impact the market dynamics too dramatically in the long term,” Greenberg told Eurogamer. “We typically see a month or two of lifts and share adjustments, but then things tend to settle back to roughly the established market ranking.”
Greenberg does believe however that the price cuts will bring in new consumers who were kept at bay by the previous, higher price tags.

it is going to help sony because their system was always super high priced but now people who where PScourious can get one. Microsoft on the other had has always had a system at $299. if people didnt by one for that (or the arcade version for $199) i doubt that they are gonna want to pick up one now.
