PS3 Slim pushes 1 million units in 3 weeks
BY Michael Healy Sep. 24th, 2009 More on:

The results from the laboratory are in: when a game console has a lower price, more people buy it. Sony is reporting that it has sold over 1 million of their new PlayStation 3 slim units since its release on September 1st. As you’re probably aware, the new model, which sports a 120GB hard drive and a slimmer build, retails for $299. Clearly, Sony made the right decision in cutting the price of their flagship game console: not only were prominent game developers calling for a price drop, but this glut of sales seemingly proves that many people planning on purchasing the system were holding out for a lower price tag. Moreover, an additional million units sold will be a boon to Sony’s software sales during the coming Christmas season.
