“Way more” to Borderlands than what we’ve seen
BY Rain Anderson Sep. 25th, 2009 More on:

With all the screenshots, videos, interviews and media previews we’ve seen of Borderlands, and the game’s release less than a month away, could it be possible to learn something new about it that would increase the hype this game has going for it even more? Maybe this will do it — everything we’ve seen so far has been from “the noobie areas of the game,” Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford says.

“We’ve been trying really hard to hold things back and not reveal too much and spoil most of the game. Yes, it has been mentioned that Borderlands has other environments in the game like snowy mountaintops and the military installations, but we aren’t showing it! Remember all of those movie trailers you’ve seen that give away all the best stuff and the whole damn story before you’re even at the theater? Yeah, we think that sucks too.”

“You haven’t even met the real bad guys yet in Borderlands; the content past level 15. [the first play through is finished at level ~31-35]”

To tease us a bit, Gearbox released the screenshot above which introduces us to some of those “real bad guys,” members of the Crimson Lance. “…we want to assure gamers there is way more to Borderlands. A lot more.”

The game’s out on the 360 and PS3 on October 20th in North America and October 23rd internationally with the PC version following a bit later, on October 26th in North America and 30th internationally.

Damn, Pitchford and 2K are handling the PR of this game almost perfectly. Big props!

Gearbox is turning out to be one of my favorite developers. Everything from the in game content to the PR is exactly what I’d expect from a dream team. They operate like gamers, and know where our “sweet spot” is.

My, my. Aren’t we a little bit needy, emotionally unstable, and crass.
