Oblivion is the Gran Turismo of RPGs, Bethesda’s Howard says

Some game comparisons can be a little bit odd at times, like this one. Bethesda’s game director and executive producer Todd Howard told IndustryGamers about his favorite games, some of which aren’t that much of a surprise to anyone. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Grand Theft Auto 3, NCAA Football, Pac-Man, Civilization, with Ultima being his all-time favorite.

But amongst all these, Gran Turismo 3 A-spec for the PlayStation 2 seems to have a special place in his heart, as he describes it of being the game that “put the PS2 on the map for delivering really “next-gen” graphics” and that it can be compared to Oblivion, which he was working on at the time GT was out. He says that many “design decisions” were influenced by GT, not mentioning any more specifics on it, unfortunately.

Wouldn’t you know? We never thought we’d be spelling out Gran Turismo and Oblivion in the same sentence, but there you have it.
