I remember playing Dark Cloud 2 when it saw release for the PlayStation 2 and thought it was a very creative game that took a while before its true colors started showing. It is a title that is also held in high regard, if Metacritic ratings are any indication.
With that level of regard, one would think that a sequel would be certain. For that to happen however, the people have to want it, developer Level 5 says.
Level 5’s Yoshiaki Kusuda made it clear to Kotaku that while making a sequel is not currently in the cards for the company, it could be if the user demand is high enough. “There are many staff members, including myself at Level 5, who have worked on the Dark Cloud series,” Kusuda said, “There are some who decided to join Level 5 because they love the Dark Cloud series. So, if requests from users should increase in the future, we would seriously consider making it.”
