The Getaway 3 and Eight Days, titles that were at one time Sony’s most highly anticipated PS3 exclusives and showcases for the PS3’s visual capabilities, may still have a tiny chance of being released. Contrary to the mid-2008 reports, the two games were not canceled but simply “put aside” so other games could be focused on.
“I would not say they were abandoned, just put aside,” SCEE Studio London producer Nicolas Doucet said in a recent interview. “Much work had been done. The studio just wanted to focus on its strengths, EyeToy and SingStar. Given the potential of EyePet, priorities have been changed, but it is not a “death” of other projects.”
Even though both games were about halfway through development, Doucet says the decision to shelve them has ultimately benefited everyone.
