Naughty Dog talks DLC and future of Drake
BY Sebastian Nordlund Oct. 7th, 2009 More on:

Multiplayer designer at Naughty Dog, Justin Richmond, recently had a little chat with Eurogamer about Nathan Drake’s upcoming adventures in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, specifically about DLC. Richmond said he’ll beĀ ”working on DLC stuff for the next while”, thus confirming continuing support for their next iteration of the Uncharted “franchise,” as they’re now calling it.

“What you’ll probably see is more of the competitive type: more maps, more modes, stuff like that,” he mentioned, and added that the “co-op stuff is hugely time-intensive and the size of it - the physical download size - is huge, so that’s probably not an option,” at which point the chatting stopped being about DLC and went on to being about what the future holds for Drake and his trigger-happy vida loca throughout the world.

Richmond couldn’t hold back the fact that he loves the idea of Uncharted going co-op but for the reason just mentioned, it wouldn’t beĀ feasible for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. However, with the team excited and wanting to continue development on more Uncharted games, he didn’t discard a co-op mode from making an appearance on a possible Uncharted 3, which at this moment hasn’t been confirmed to either exist or even being in development. But the fact that nobody would talk about the left out pieces of the Uncharted 2 story for possible further usage, well, hints at an upcoming third installment in the apparently not so near future.

When asked about what their next step will be, Richmond answered by letting these words come flying out of his mouth: “I don’t know what we’ll do next actually,” which leaves us hanging by a cliff as to how to end this story.
