Despite having some of the most successful franchises in the gaming industry today, Activision isn’t totally immune to the current economic crisis. After allegedly shutting down 7 Studios yesterday, Activision is putting another one of their studios on the chopping block. According to anonymous Kotaku tipsters, the Activision-owned Shaba Games has been the latest victim of the economic recession. The Spider-man: Web of Shadows developer had 30 employee lay offs earlier today, precipitated by sluggish sales of Guitar Hero 5, suggests one of the tipsters.
It’s not a good time to be working under Activision right now, with the spectre of a lay off hanging overhead. Here’s hoping Modern Warfare 2 sells enough units to stave off another studio shutdown. Like that’s not going to happen..
