Hideo Kojima’s two cents on the Nobel Peace Prize
BY Aaron Yorke Oct. 11th, 2009 More on:

There has been some controversy over the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Barack Obama. Critics say Obama hasn’t done much (or really anything) to support his reception of the award; that this is a prize based on speeches and potential for action instead of results. It would be like giving Modern Warfare 2 the Game of the Year award right now based on all the wicked sweet trailers.

Despite all the commotion, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima seems pleased at the Nobel Committee’s decision based on the following quote from his blog, “President Obama, who declared ‘A World Without Nuclear Weapons’ in Prague, has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Has the era at last started shifting? The start of the Peace Walker plan? I hope that comes to be. ‘Peace will not walk to you.’ ‘You must both walk towards one another.’ From the gym.”

“From the gym”? Other than that part, Kojima’s words suggest that he thinks Obama will be an ambassador of peace and will take a proactive route in spreading the love. However, I have to admit that I’m not familiar enough in Metal Gear lore to know what the Peace Walker plan is. Is there some hidden meaning here that I’m missing out on?
