World of Goo gets birthday sale, name your own price
BY Evan Kutsko Oct. 13th, 2009 More on:

It’s shameful to think I’ve been avoiding purchase of the stellar World of Goo for an entire year, but I guess I have if today marks the title’s first birthday. As you might have read earlier, 2D Boy announced that the game will soon be making its way to an iPhone near you. It seems that’s not the only birthday surprise that the indie dev has in store for us today.

Hit up the company website and…well, chances are you won’t see much of anything because of the explosion of site traffic, but if you’re lucky enough to bust through you’ll find a link to download the game at whatever price you see fit. After your “donation” is processed, you’ll get an email with a link to download your own DRM-free copy of the game, but again, it’s near impossible to reach the servers at the time of writing (believe me, I’ve been trying). Don’t worry though, 2D Boy is hard at work setting up mirror sites to deal with the traffic jam, and the offer is available until Oct. 19th. With all this generosity, I’m not exactly sure they understand how this whole birthday thing works.
