Not content that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has hit stores, developers Naughty Dog have already announced the next installment of Nathan Drake’s adventures. But before you go getting all dribbley, know this: it’s not a game, it’s a ‘motion comic.’

Taking part in a live webchat with fans on the PlayStation blog, lead designer Neil Druckmann revealed that Uncharted: Eye of Indra is currently in production and will introduce a new female character called Rika. “We actually started [Uncharted 2] with an idea for a prequel story that we eventually cut,” said Druckmann. “However, you’ll get to see that story fleshed out in the upcoming Uncharted Motion Comic.”

Increasingly, this is the way videogame franchises are going. We’d get all huffy and snarky about it — it’s games we love, after all — but with the overflowing praise for Uncharted 2 and the awesomeness that was last year’s Dead Space motion comic, we are quietly optimistic.
