Dragon Age loses a dimension

Besides releasing Dragon Age: Origins on PC and consoles next month, EA will be serving up the dark fantasy RPG in one less dimension as well, with the browser-based Dragon Age Journeys.

Developed as a collaboration between “some of the hottest indie talent from the flash developer community,” BioWare, and EA 2D, a studio focused on creating “blockbusters for the browser,” Joyrneys is a 2D flash game that will launch with Dragon Age Journeys: The Deep Roads, a three-chapter, single-player, tactical RPG that, by the sounds of it, isn’t being made just the sake making it.

EA 2D producer Ethan Levy says they’ve received “pages upon pages of reference materials, story documents, concept art and screenshots” and get “invaluable feedback and insight on the game from members of the Dragon Age team, including [BioWare co-founders] Drs. Ray and Greg.”

The Deep Roads features character classes, talent trees, sound effects, music and user interface taken directly from Dragon Age: Origins. Thanks to all these resources and input from the BioWare team, it will serve as a solid introduction to the world of Dragon Age.”

No clue yet on when this might get released but seeing as it’s an “introduction,” we’re betting around the same time as Dragon Age: Origins itself.
