“I can promise a sequel,” Kojima says of Zone of the Enders

Metal Gear Solid‘s Hideo Kojima took to his blog to announce that Zone of the Enders 3, will happen, though exactly when remains a mystery.

“I cannot make a promise about time. However, I can promise a sequel.”

The first Zone of the Enders may be better remember for its included Metal Gear 2 demo, but its epic anime-style mecha battles only became more fast-paced and story-driven in Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner. The sequel improved upon the original in every way possible, blending stunning visuals, frantic gameplay and compelling characters into an addictive anime-inspired experience, through good reviews and a cult following couldn’t compensate for its mediocre sales.

“Everything was due to an error by me,” admitted Kojima. “At that time, if I hadn’t made a mistake with the release date, [Zone of the Enders] might have ended up a major Kojima Productions title to follow MGS, still seeing development as a series.”

Oh Zone of the Enders, you’re still young – it’s not too late to start that ass-kicking flying robot family you always wanted!
