Modern Warfare 2 is now on the same level as cigarettes and booze in the UK. The British Board of Film Classification, which will continue to rate videogames until the PEGI system officially takes over as the standard, has given developer Infinity Ward’s latest game an 18 rating. Equivalent to a Mature rating in the States, the 18 label is a first for the Call of Duty series, according to Eurogamer. Tough break, underage gamers. But on the bright side, it looks like every bit of gory violence and profane dialogue will be left in tact for us adult gamers. We will promptly celebrate with Marlboros and Tanqueray when Modern Warfare 2 arrives this November.

Actually, Andrew, the law changed recently making it an offence to play it under that age as well. But I doubt that’s going to stop anybody, especially kids with debit cards who will just buy it from Amazon or Steam, lol.
