Final Fantasy XIII does not require install on PS3
BY Raphael Cua Oct. 22nd, 2009 More on:

Mandatory installs are becoming the norm on a lot of PS3 titles, but Final Fantasy XIII, arguably one of the biggest PS3 titles coming out next year (this year in Japan), will not require an install. Square Enix’s Motomu Toriyama explained that the staff worked on loading issues early in development to make the experience seamless. The only time loading happens in the game is when the player goes from the town into the field.

That being said, there’s no word yet on whether there will be any optional installations to reduce the aforementioned load times. And even though Sony now requires it in all of their titles, Toriyama still felt compelled to announce that Final Fantasy XIII will indeed support Trophies.
