Today’s Gamers recently surveyed 13,000 people with internet access living in the US, the UK, and a host of European countries. The survey found that 40% of US console gamers have paid for complete games or additional downloadable content. The survey also highlighted the prevalence of demos in a gamer’s purchasing decisions - 25% of US console gamers stated that whether or not a game’s demo is available for download is a “crucial factor in their buying decision.”
Digital video is also extremely popular in the US - 66% of all PS3 and Xbox 360 users have watched online video on their systems. Finally, of all the countries surveyed, the US proved to have the largest gaming population: 58% of people 8 years or older with access to internet play console games in the US.
