Infinity Ward kept MW2 secret from Activision, doesn’t care what they think |

Infinity Ward kept pretty darn tight-lipped about their progress with Modern Warfare 2. In fact, they didn’t even tell Activision, the franchise’s publisher, until development for the long-awaited sequel was well underway. But that’s just because they didn’t care what Activision had to say about the game.
Says IW community manager Robert Bowling, “We know the game we want to make, and especially with Modern Warfare 2, we didn’t even show Activision the game until very much later in the development process. Because we want to stay focused, really the only opinion we care about is what our fans think.”
Rather than use the publisher as a conduit to the fans, Infinity Ward engaged with their audience directly, using technology like Facebook and Twitter to collect feedback and ideas for the new game. At the end of the day, Bowling said this was the best way to engage with the sizeable Modern Warfare fanbase, “That’s really what’s important, our relationship with us and our fans, and not so much us and Activision, or us and retailers or anything like that.”

Explain to me how you gut dedicated servers from your game and pretend to be listening to your audience.

Cry more about the dedicated servers, seriously.
You PC players are so annoying. Just enjoy the game and be glad their giving you anything to begin with.

Totally agree with Zack. MW2 is going to ship far less than a million copies of PC, whereas the console versions will do massive, massive numbers. Why would they listen to an audience that is far more likely to pirate the game anyway, and then hack it to fuck until its unplayable by all but their own clan?

If the PC gaming community is pissed about the lack of dedicated server support, then they should go look in the mirror and find the culprit. When games are reporting a 90% piracy rate, do you really think they’re going to just keep taking it in the pants?
Fact: 90% of their actual customers who will actually give money to play the game will greatly prefer IWNet then searching through porn covered server lists with draconian rule sets.

Jarrod Johnston, you’re an idiot of the highest degree. I rent a server for CoD4.

wow, there are some really ignorant console gamers here. “90% piracy rate”?…really Jarrod Johnston…are you retarded or just a moron.
“Why would they listen to an audience that is far more likely to pirate the game anyway, and then hack it to fuck until its unplayable by all but their own clan?”…really Woody? So you’re saying a majority of PC gamers pirate their games? Hmm, i’m glad you have hard evidence to support your claims…i guess you could just make up a number like Jarrod Johnston, it seems to work for him.
Also, the reason IW should show their PC fan base some love is because it’s the PC players that made them successful, with cod1, cod2. There’s an old sayin’ “Dance with the one who brought ya.”

yes, it’s called modding. fyi: if it weren’t for modding, you wouldn’t have two of the most popular games ever created…CounterStrike and DoTA.

First let’s clarify something, reason that more pc games are pirated more then anything is because of the role it plays on the web. Every single one here mostly likely uses a pc to surf the web. So of course you going to see more pirating then normal. Second the xbox360 version for MW2 has already been leaked. (Naughty console players), Third you should thank the modding community for developing the game to the point it is now. If you play hardcore then you can thank the modders since they were the first to make such a mod( Called realism mod.) Now when you flying you C 130 in MW2 again thank the modders, it was already playable in COD4 made possible by a modder named “Joker.” Also the COd4 head designer even stated”That a lot of the things put into Cod4 came from the modding community.” So when you start noticing as each new release gets worse and worse. maybe you’ll remeber what you said to the pc player community but of course by then you will be hyping up EA games such as Bad Company 2, since that’s where COd modders are heading now. See ya in Bad company 2, oh wait you going to stay in your box and believe your getting the best deal. “And Zack unless your going to steal the game then they are not giving us shit. Its called give and receive, I give my money, they give me their half ass game.”

Sure, modding may help Infinity Ward decide what does and doesn’t go into a game but when you guys whine and complain every time someone mentions Modern Warfare 2…
Get over it.

Yea we’ll get over, once we find another game to play. Like you wouldn’t be angering waiting for over a year for something only for someone to change what you expected or was denied it. It not like we can complain directly to the developer and when we do, we get half ass answer or answer he gives has nothing to do with the question. So people are going to complain somewhere else who’s actually going to responds, like in this section.

I wouldn’t be that angry. I’d be glad I got to play the game for what it is and I’d shut up about it and enjoy it.

here’s the funny part. PC players wanting to retain dedicated servers has nothing to do with you console fanboys so why are you here pissing on a valid complaint. People use and play the PC because we enjoy having a bit more control over what we do instead of being coddled into matches with other similar newbs of the “same skill set”. I got news for you, people don’t get better at anything playing people in their same skill set. I don’t get better at guitar by playing the same songs for 10 years, I get better by learning more difficult compositions and songs. I didn’t get good at counter-strike going into a server full of green horns and owning. I got better by going into challenging servers and getting my ass handed to me constantly and learning from my mistakes and following examples set by better players than I.
Your argument (or lack there of) is completely invalid and useless.
