With another DSi on its way and rumors of the Wii 2 spreading like wildfire, it’s safe to say that it’s been a pretty wacky day for Nintendo-related press. Nintendo’s super-sized DSi LL, which was announced earlier today following much speculation, has now been confirmed for a North American and European release in the 1st quarter of next year.
In case you’re just tuning in, the new handheld, which has been re-branded as the ‘DSi XL’ in North American and European territories, features two comparatively ginormous 4″ screens and will come pre-loaded with three DSiWare titles. Also included is a humungo pen-sized stylus that thoroughly justifies my consistent use of hyperbolic, size-related slang words in this post.
Meanwhile, I’m still trying to figure out what demographic Nintendo is targeting with the DSi XL. So far, I’m leaning towards either nearsighted octogenarians, or people who order ‘super size’ portions at McDonalds. Admittedly, the XL would look pretty badass sitting next to a Big Mac. I for one won’t be surprised to see an ‘XL’-themed McD’s/Nintendo campaign starting next year.
