Netflix to complete console trifecta with Wii
BY Brian Dahlquist Oct. 30th, 2009 More on:

Since Netflix was confirmed to be headed to the PS3, the only straggling console without streaming movie watching was Nintendo’s Wii. Nintendo is finally catching up with the rest of the pack as streaming analyst Dan Rayburn has confirmed through leaked pictures that Netflix is headed to Wii, although exactly when it will arrive is unclear.

Since there’s no official confirmation in sight, let’s put this in the ‘rumor’ pile for safe keeping for now, but Rayburn, who has not posted the pictures for fear of upsetting his inside man, states that “What I’m hearing is that Nintendo originally planned to bring the Netflix service to the Wii before the end of this year, which still might take place, but that Nintendo is also considering holding off on the Netflix service until they release their next generation Wii HD unit in early 2010.”

Things are falling into place for Netflix CEO Reed Hastings who would probably like it if you had Netflix available in your alarm clock. Things also aren’t looking too bad for current Wii owners. Given that Nintendo is debating on releasing it now or later means that it will work with both the current version of the Wii and the new version when it is released.

Netflix has been established on Xbox 360 for a year come this November and is set to appear on PS3 in November as well.
