A “next-gen” Halo in the works |

Microsoft’s internal Halo studio, 343 Industries, is working a new Halo game. And not just another Halo game, a Halo game for the “next generation Xbox platform” — and we’re guessing (hoping?) Microsoft doesn’t consider a Natal-enabled Xbox 360 to be a next-gen platform.
A job message on Gamasutra reveals that a level designer with at least one AAA game under their belt and a great amount of Halo knowledge can find a new home in the company’s Redmond WA facilities where they can design and build levels for this “next big project.”
“Work with our top first-party development partners to help ship a great first-party line up for next generation Xbox platform,” the job ad reads. No information about the actual game is given.

If they launch the next Xbox in 2011-2012 then that’s 2-3 years of development if they move into production now. Considering they’re no doubt going to be building a new engine for the new hardware, that sounds about right to me.

If they are consistent with the a new Halo game every 3 years, I expect this one to arrive fall of 2013.

people always complain about milking this series. 5 games in 7-8 year time frame, 2 of the games which were just spin offs. i dont consider that “milking” a series. y doesnt anyone really complain about how many mario games there are, or final fantasies? a new ip would be great, yes. but that great ip would spawn sequels as well and people will still complain. why is it so bad to continue making sequels to great games? i bet when gears of war 3 comes out (which is pretty much going to happen) people are gonna complain that that series is being milked. if you dont like it, dont play it
