Updated / Diablo III slated for 2011
BY Emmanuel Petti Nov. 12th, 2009 More on:

Update: It should be noted that the information comes from a slide that has the game under a “few next years” release window, so it could be that Blizzard’s just not sure if they can manage to finish it in time for a 2010 release and don’t want to commit to anything.

Original story: Blizzard has had a full plate when it comes to their IPs, developing an expansion for World of Warcraft as well as making sequels to both the Starcraft and Diablo franchises and all. Unfortunately, Diablo fans are going to have to wait until 2011 for their sequel to hit store shelves while Startcraft and WoW fans will get theirs in 2010. There isn’t any hard dates for either Starcraft II nor World of Warcraft Cataclysm yet, but according to the Activision presentation they’re slated for release sometime in 2010. That same presentation mentioned that Diablo III would be released in 2011 at the earliest. Hopefully it remains on target and we don’t have to wait much longer than a couple years to get our grubby paws on it.

considering how efficiently they’re moving on StarCraft 2, i’ll be lucky if my computer will be able to play Diablo 3 whenever it comes out, lol.

my money’s on 2012, 2013. there’s just no reason, short of an official announcement, for me to believe Blizzard will have that game out any sooner.

Petti, you a PC gamer? what are you looking more forward to, if any, Star2 or D3?

I like to think I’m a gamer in general but tend to lean towards PC. I think at this point I’m most excited for Starcraft II simply becuase Torchlight has be so good at filling the action RPG void.

I seem to recall waiting years and years for Diablo 2. I’ll put my money with carg0’s.

I’ve been waiting for Diablo 3 since I completed Diablo 2. I really would like to play this game but with the way things are going, I don’t think this game will ever be released.

Sounds about right. Starcraft 2 is ages and ages away yet. We’ll see a whole lot of cool games before this comes out, and that can only hurt initial sales. The game isn’t getting a whole lot prettier after all, and with smash hits like Dragon Age, Operation Flashpoint, and possibly the new Supreme Commander, all coming out before it, less and less people will be impressed.

I disagree with you Syron, I’m almost positive will be a hit regardless of what games come out between now an then. Graphics have little to do with the success of Blizzard games.
